Frequently Asked Questions
Here are a few of our commonly asked questions. If you have any more please contact us at Hunter MoveAbility and we’ll be more than happy to help.
This is the age-old question Hunter MoveAbility receives every day. We at Hunter MoveAbility have spent, ourselves, many years determining how to describe this to our clients. As Exercise Physiologists we are trained to understand your medical history and use this information to provide you with a movement strategy to help prevent, manage and/or overcome your health concerns. This allows you to live with the freedom of knowing your body is working the best way possible to combat your health concerns.
We love saying it’s the art of science! We are science trained to provide clear evidence-based therapy, however, the artistry comes with working with you to paint that ultimate picture of your improved health.
Hunter MoveAbility love working with other health professionals, as the more support for you, the better the outcome! As Exercise Physiologists, we work closely with Physiotherapist to ensure we are covering more bases to assist you with your health outcome. We have found that the Physiotherapists that we work with are amazing at looking after your immediate injuries and getting you to pain free movement, which is great! From this point, we, as Exercise Physiologists, come into play to build management strategies around long-term management of your body to help prevent these issues surfacing in the future, while also getting the body working better for your overall health and wellbeing to prevent future health related concerns.
We love integrating what we do with Personal Trainers, as we understand that Personal Trainers can play an integral part in your health journey and maintenance of your long-term health. When working together, we clinically assess you to determine your risk and suitability for a movement strategy based on evidence-based assessment in relation to your health concerns. This works well in understanding training loads and optimum performance of your body. We liaise together with your Personal Trainer and create a great movement strategy for the optimal outcome for you! Again, there is an art behind the science!
Referrals are welcome, however, not necessary if you are claiming through your health fund or attending on your own accord.
A referral from your Doctor is required when accessing our services under Medicare (EPC), DVA or an insurance claim, such as Worker Compensation or CTP. Discuss your eligibility for this with your Doctor to determine if you can access these funding sources.
Hunter MoveAbility will put you through a comprehensive evaluation in your first appointment. This includes a case history, understanding your reason for attending to us, what you want to achieve, a comprehensive physical assessment, evaluation of your assessment and most importantly, we will put together a management plan to assist you towards your goals!
From this point in time, we work together to put together an individualised program to you, to assist with moving towards your goals. We run through this in our programming session and provide clear and easy to understand information regarding why we have prescribed this unique program for you! Explaining why is the most important part of what we do, so you can understand what is happening to that body of yours and how what you are doing is improving your health. From here we monitor and modify through our work together to obtain the best possible outcome for you!
We suggest wearing comfortable clothes in which you are able to move freely in. We request you wear suitable footwear to our appointments, as we are moving, and our feet are so important. Also, do not forget to bring along a water bottle and towel.
Feel free to bring along any paperwork provided by your Doctor, any reports and results from imaging (ultrasound/x-ray/CT/MRI) or from other tests (blood results). The more we know, the more we can help!
Of course we do! This is Hunter MoveAbility’s bread and butter when it comes to working with Injured Workers or other insurance based referral due to our extensive history working in Insurers, working as Rehabilitation Consultants and treating many different injuries for successful return to work outcomes. All we ask is please bring along your referral and claim details, such as Insurance details, so we can easily make the process as efficient as possible.
Medicare, DVA, Self-Managed NDIS, Workers Compensation, CTP and Private Health rebates are available. Our clinics have HICAPS readily available for you to claim at the time of your appointments and we are set for online claiming for your Medicare rebates.
