3 reasons why Exercise Physiology should be included on every NDIS Plan

Here at Hunter MoveAbility, we do not pretend to know everything and do everything, HOWEVER, what we are great at is specialising in exercise! As Exercise Physiologists, we are are trained and experienced in designing and delivering effective exercise programs for people living with disability.

It doesn’t matter how you are managed, be it NDIA, self or plan managed, how YOU choose to spend your NDIS funding can be crucial to building capacity towards improved independence.

Exercise Physiology is all about building capacity through physical activities, to assist participants to become more independent and participate in activities of their interest at home, work, school or within the community. Building this capacity through the benefits of exercise, if a key fundamental for participants, which is the reason why we, here at Hunter MoveAbility, believe Exercise Physiology service is a key in each participant’s funding! Here are only 3 reasons (there are a heap more!) Hunter MoveAbility believes funding for Exercise Physiology should be included in participant’s funding:

  1. Exercise has been shown to improve function and make ADL’s easier.

  1. Exercise has been shown to improve quality of life in participants.

  1. Exercise has been shown to improve a participant’s function and enable NDIS participants to find and sustain a job.

These are only 3 areas we believe Exercise Physiology is such an important service for funding with NDIS participants! There are many MANY MANY more benefits of exercises for people living with illness or disability. If you are unsure of where to direct your funding, we recommend Exercise Physiology be a big part of your journey, as the research is clear in building capacity for increased independence at home, work, school, or the community.
